RD Rodriguez visits Antique; turns over Php2.3M livelihood assistance

 

OIC-Regional Director Atty. Sixto "Popoy" T. Rodriguez, Jr. visited the Province of Antique and turned over checks worth  Php2,383,280  as livelihood assistance for marginalized workers from the Municipalities of Caluya and Belison. 

Of the amount, Php1, 286, 360 is used to augment the livelihood of 65 marginalized farmers, farm laborers, fisher folks senior citizens and out of school youths in Caluya.

The beneficiaries are into cattle/swine raising and fattening, carenderia, food vending, and sarisari store projects.

Meanwhile, 55 beneficiaries from Belison who are mostly marginalized farmers, laborers, fisher folks and self employed individuals with insufficient incomel benefitted from the  remaining Php1, 096, 920 financial assistance.

Aside from cattle/hog fattening and poultry raising projects, the beneficiaries  also enhanced their fishing gears as well as engaged in bread and pastry, carinderia, frozen foods and rice retailing, and sarisari store projects.

RD Rodriguez believes in the capability of the marginalized sector to improve their lives if given the opportunity.

Since he assumed the responsibilities as Regional Director last August 23 this year,  RD Rodriguez took time in visiting the different field  offices to assess the situation as he continue his advocacy on pro-poor services which is anchored on social justice.
