The Employees’ Compensation Commission, an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), has recently conducted a free-of-charge orientation on Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) for employees of two big malls in Iloilo and Bacolod Cities.
The orientation aimed to boost the awareness of the employees of the mall and that of their tenants on their rights and benefits under the program.
The ECP’s prevention, compensation and rehabilitation services were presented during the said activity wherein strict compliance on the occupational safety and health standards was highlighted as priority.
“Our effort in reaching employers as well as the workers is in pursuance of our agency’s mission to inform workers of their rights, benefits and privileges under the EC Program,” said ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis.
Banawis added that good labor-management relation is a give and take process; if the management is sensitive with the welfare of their workers, it will foster productivity and industrial peace.
She thus invites other interested companies and establishments to contact the ECC-Regional Extension Unit 6 at (033) 330-0910 or the DOLE-Regional Office No. 6 at (033) 320-8026 for more details on the said orientation.
The ECP provides a compensation package to private and public workers or their dependents in the event of work-related contingencies.
